Rory Amon is an Australian politician. He served as the member for Pittwater in the New South Wales Legislative Assembly. He is also the shadow assistant minister for youth and NSW Liberal MP.
The 35-year-old served as a councillor on Northern Beaches Council from 2017 to 2023. He resigned from state parliament after facing charges of child sex offences and was listed to face Manly Local Court on 30 August 2024.

Early life
Rory Amon was born Roderick Gilmore Amon to Alexe and Guy Amon. His parents ran a small business in Mona Vale for almost twenty years. He has five siblings, including a twin sister.
Education
Rory attended Knox Grammar School and Covenant Christian School. He obtained a Commerce and Law at Macquarie University, graduating with First-Class Honours in 2013.
Career
Amon was elected Pittwater MP at the 2023 state election. He is a member of Pittwater and was also a party spokesman on youth issues. He was a Northern Beaches councillor from 2017 to 2023 before state politics.
Rory was a paralegal while in the university and an admitted solicitor in New South Wales. He specialized in family law as a solicitor.
In 2017, Rory Amon was preselected as the Liberal Party’s lead candidate for Narrabeen Ward on the newly-formed Northern Beaches Council for the local government elections.
In 2021, Rory joined Pittwater Ward for the local elections and was re-elected. He was preselected as the Liberal candidate for Pittwater at the 2023 state election in December 2022 and was elected in March 2023.
Amon was appointed the Liberal Party’s Shadow Assistant Minister for Youth, Housing, and Planning and Public Spaces in May 2023.
During his parliamentary service, Rory held many positions. He served as Shadow Assistant Minister for Infrastructure and Shadow Assistant Minister for Transport and Roads in 2024.
Amon also served as Shadow Assistant Minister for Housing, Shadow Assistant Minister for Planning and Public Spaces, and Shadow Assistant Minister for Youth from 2023 to 2024.
Amon was a Member of Pittwater and the NSW Legislative Assembly from 2023 to 2024.
Rory has also done community activities. He has been a volunteer Firefighter for the Davidson Volunteer Fire Brigade since 2013. He was the Brigade Vice President from 2014 to 2015 and from 2018 to 2022, and Brigade President from 2015 to 2018.
Amon is a member of various community groups and Chambers of Commerce. He was honored with NSW Premier’s Bushfire Emergency Citation, NSW Rural Fire Service, 2021, and Governor General’s National Emergency Medal, NSW Rural Fire Service, 2022.
Rory Amon was charged with ten child sex offences on 30 August 2024, which relates to the alleged sexual assault of a teenage boy at Mona Vale in July 2017.
Following the charges, Amon resigned as a member of the Liberal Party and tendered his resignation as an MP to the Parliament’s Speaker.
