Laura McGoldrick (born December 1989) is a New Zealand TV personality, broadcaster, presenter, radio host, MC, and part-time actress. She is best known for hosting shows such as Holden Golf World, NZ Herald Focus, and The Cricket Show.
McGoldrick has graced the small screen since 2009, working on live sporting events for Sky Television. She has also hosted many top shows, including New Zealand Herald’s Focus. She is the wife of Blackcap’s opening batsman Martin Guptill.

Early Life
Laura McGoldrick was born in December 1989 in Christchurch, New Zealand. She has always been around sports since childhood.
McGoldrick grew up with a player-agent mother, Leanne McGoldrick, and a father, Bryn McGoldrick, who ran Lancaster Park. Her brothers, Christopher and Timmy, also played sports.
McGoldrick has had several involvements in sports. She played tennis but not at a very high level. Even though she liked cricket, she was not good at playing it.
Education
McGoldrick attended Rangi Ruru Girls’ School in Christchurch. She did a year’s stint at drama school. She studied Performing Arts before moving into Broadcasting.

After completing her studies, McGoldrick attended drama school to be an actress. Her friend was auditioning for the kids’ show Push Play. Since she thought the job was a way to learn about being on camera, she attended the audition and got a callback.
At 19, McGoldrick started hosting Sky TV’s The Cricket Show in 2009. She joined Toni Street and Sam Wallace on The Hits Breakfast Show in 2019. She hosted the Auckland Cricket Awards in the 23/24 season.
She exited the The Hits Drive show in October 2023 after spending almost two years with Brad Watson. She hosted her afternoon show, The 3 pm Pick-Up.
In 2023, McGoldrick became the first woman to be a regular host of Sky’s league coverage. She also hosts Holden Golf World and NZ Herald Focus. She was a regular presence at the New Zealand Open with her after-round interviews for Sky TV.
When she is not working on live Sporting Events for Sky Television, McGoldrick is an MC event in New Zealand. She emceed NZ Warriors Awards night in 2023 and the Canterbury Sports Award in 2024.
Personal Life
Laura McGoldrick married Martin Guptill at St Luke’s Presbyterian Church, Remuera, in 2014. They have two young children, Harley and Teddy. They welcomed their baby boy Theodore James Guptill, fondly called Teddy, on 15 February 2021.
In 2020, McGoldrick announced that she was pregnant. She also opened up about her experience with fertility struggles – miscarriages before having her son – and heartbreak. Her husband Martin was in the delivery room as she gave birth to Teddy.
McGoldrick had a missed miscarriage, the fetus was no longer alive, but the body didn’t recognise it was no longer pregnant. Surgery had to undergo surgery.
Apart from work, McGoldrick loves keeping fit, traveling, wine, and shoes. She lives in East Auckland with her family.
