Mangaung Oval is a cricket oval in Bloemfontein, South Africa, that has formerly been known as Springbok Park, Chevrolet Park, Goodyear Park, and OUTsurance Oval.
It’s primarily utilized for cricket matches at the moment. The Knights cricket team has their home here. The stadium was built in 1989 and has a capacity of 20,000 people.
South Africa defeated India by eight wickets in the ground’s debut one-day international in December 1992. With the visit of Zimbabwe in October of 2000, it received full Test status.
This was the venue where Colin Ingram made history by being the first South African to score a century in his first ODI match.
Springbok Park has some of the greatest lighting in the country and is frequently utilized for day/night matches, when the grassy banks become vibrantly colored and a carnival atmosphere reigns supreme. It’s only a 10-minute walk from the city center, and the Bloemfontein bus station is right next door.
Due to sponsorship by the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, the ground was dubbed Goodyear Park until the 2007/08 season, when it was renamed the OUTsurance Oval. Since then, it has been renamed Mangaung Oval.
