Set in the vibrant Vaal region—dubbed the “Little Italy” of South Africa—016 FM follows the fate of a beloved community radio station on the brink of collapse. At the heart of the drama are two rival DJs—DJ Whiskey (the late Mpho Sebeng in his final role) and DJ Tsietsi (Joseph Sedibo)—pitted against each other in a fierce on-air “kwaal” for supremacy and survival. What starts as a battle for ratings soon escalates into a fight to oust a dangerous syndicate that has infiltrated the station’s inner workings. With legendary stars like Nthati Moshesh, Sophie Ndaba, and Nephtali Leotle rounding out the cast, 016 FM unfolds as a gripping tribute to Vaal culture, legacy, and the power of community voices.
