Ayanda Bans (born in Murraysburg) is a South African politician serving as a Member of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament since May 2019.
Career
Bans had held many posts within the African National Congress and its women’s league, including regional deputy secretary and regional treasurer. She was also the regional elections manager for the party.
She was ranked 13th on the ANC’s candidate list for the Western Cape Provincial Parliament prior to the 2019 provincial election. Bans was not elected, but on the day the new provincial assembly was sworn in, Ebrahim Rasool declined his seat. She was chosen by the party to fill his position, and she was sworn in the next day, on May 23.
