André de Ruyter (born 1969 in Pretoria) currently serves as the Group Chief Executive (GCE) of Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd.

Career
Over a 30-year career, André de Ruyter has plied his trade both locally and internationally in various portfolios in the energy space.
He has significant experience in managing coal, oil, chemical and gas businesses, including marketing of export coal to international utilities and taking responsibility for the operations of very large coal and gas conversion plants, including electricity generation.
De Ruyter’s experience and expertise cuts across a range of disciplines, including but not limited to: strategic leadership, commodities, sales, manufacturing and production, economic, finance and corporate structuring, legal and regulation, people management and socio-economic development, corporate knowledge, governance and risk management, and knowledge of global markets and business operations.
Mr de Ruyter is a seasoned executive and has spent more than 20 years of his work life making a contribution in a number of senior management roles at petrochemicals group Sasol.
He was a member of the Sasol group executive committee from 2009 to 2014, and spent some time in China as President of China Ventures and also in Germany in a business turnaround and management capacity.
He was appointed as CEO of Nampak in 2014 – a position he left when he accepted the Group Chief Executive role at Eskom in January this year (2020).

Mr de Ruyter holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Nyenrode Business University in the Netherlands, a Bachelor of Law (LLB) which he obtained from the University of South Africa as well as a Bachelor of Civil Law and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pretoria.
Family
He is married with three children and lives in Johannesburg.
Salary
In the last five years, he served as Nampak’s CEO. The company are known as the biggest packaging company in Africa. It’s estimated he was on an annual salary of R18 million.
