Retief Odendaal (born 28 May 1982) is a South African politician for the Democratic Alliance (DA) who is serving as the current mayor of the Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan Municipality.

Career
In 2004, Retief Odendaal joined the DA. He was a founder member of the Nelson Mandela Bay chapter of the DA Youth, which was established in 2004. In 2009, he was elected to the Nelson Mandela Bay Ward 6 Council and held the position until the 2016 South African municipal elections.
Retief has served on the Democratic Alliance Federal Council since 2014. In addition, he was chosen to lead the DA’s Eastern Cape Provincial Disciplinary Committee. From 2017 to 2019, he also held the position of deputy DA chairperson in the Eastern Cape.
He was chosen to represent the DA in the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature following the 2019 South African general election.
In September 2022, he was elected as the new mayor of the Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan Municipality.
The DA’s Retief Ondendaal beat out the ANC’s Wandisile Jikeka by 60 to 59 votes. A vote took place in the early hours of Thursday morning after a long council sitting full of drama.
