Nqaba Bhanga (born 28 August 1977) is a South African politician who is the current Provincial Leader of the Democratic Alliance (DA) in the Eastern Cape and the Executive Mayor of Nelson Mandela Bay.

Career
Nqaba Bhanga became the Nelson Mandela Bay Youth Leader of the African National Congress and the SRC President of the Port Elizabeth Technikon, where he received his first certification in public administration. Later on, he earned a postgraduate degree in Maritime Studies.
Prior to defecting to the DA, Bhanga served as the national secretary general of the South African Student Congress (SASCO), as well as the young leader of the Congress of the People (COPE) and a member of Parliament.
From 2014 until 2016, he was a member of Parliament for the Democratic Alliance. He was the leader of the party’s Ngqura constituency.
In 2016, he was elected to the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality’s Mayoral Committee Member (MMC) for Human Settlements, succeeding mayor Athol Trollip, who he followed as Party Provincial Leader in 2017.
In the 2019 general elections, Bhanga was the DA’s candidate for Eastern Cape Premier. He was elected to the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature and was given the title of Leader of the Opposition as a result of the elections.
Bhanga resigned from the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature on March 4, 2020. He had been nominated by the DA to run for mayor of Nelson Mandela Bay. On December 4, 2020, he was elected mayor without opposition. Bhanga will be the DA’s mayoral candidate for Nelson Mandela Bay in the 2021 local government elections, according to DA leader John Steenhuisen.
