She studied drama at the Durban University of Technology from 1995 to 1996 and furthered her tertiary education in 2009 by studying at Movietech Film & Television Production College.
Having performed song, dance and theatre in Durban for many years, Gcina landed her first television acting role when she was cast as Zinzile, the nanny of Shakira’s (Dawn Matthews) baby, in the e.tv soapie Scandal!
She was nominated for a SAFTA Award in the category of Best Supporting Actress—TV Soap at the 16th annual awards in 2022.
Also in 2022, she starred as Vero, Amanda’s (Refilwe Madumo) accomplice who helps her escape from prison, in the second season of the SABC1 drama series Side Dish.
