Randall Williams (born in Cape Town) is a South African politician and attorney serving as the Executive Mayor of the City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality since October 2020.
Education
He graduated from Stellenbosch University with a Master of Laws (LLM) in International Investment and Trade Law and from UNISA with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB).
Career
The Democratic Alliance won control of the City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality after municipal elections on 3 August 2016. Williams was appointed to the mayoral committee (MMC) for economic development and spatial planning on August 26, 2016, by newly elected DA mayor Solly Msimanga. In addition, he was named chair of the Municipal Appeals Tribunal.
Msimanga stated his decision to leave as mayor in January 2019. The Democratic Alliance considered Williams as a potential mayoral candidate, but ultimately chose Member of Parliament Stevens Mokgalapa as their preferred candidate.
